Roethlisberger has played sloppy

Don't get me wrong...Big Ben is fun to watch and when he is on he is one of the best QB's in the league, but this past monday showed us some of the reasons why he shouldn't be considered one the games elite QBs....

Week 16: Top 10 NFL TEAMS

1. Packers-Packers stay number one despite falling to bad Kansas City team, questions about the Packers O-Line and defense still have not been answered.

2. 49ers-49ers got a very convincing win against the Steelers this week on national television.  The way the 49ers play football makes them able to stick with anyone.

3. Saints-Drew Brees and company have been playing lights out lately and are a very scary team heading into the playoffs.

4. Patriots-Patriots win against the god-given broncos this week and quiet the Tebow maniacs.

5. Steelers-Steelers didn't play all to well against the 49ers, mostly due to a lack of rhythm on offense. When Big Ben is healthy this team is a real Threat.

6. Texans-With the Texans losing to the Carolina Panthers, many believe that the real problems that are in Houston are starting to show.

7. Ravens-A good team that needs to find consistency.

8. Falcons-This team is starting to roll and getting better each week.

9. Lions-Getting Suh back has helped the Lions an incredible amount on defense.

10. Broncos-As long as Tim Tebow is the starting QB for the Denver Broncos, they have a legitimate shot at winning every game.

49er's play old school football!

The game started out by Big Ben limping onto the field and it never really got much better for the Steelers, losing to an impressive 49ers team 20-3. These two teams play football how football is suppose to be played.  Thats why this game was so intriguing...both teams rely heavily on their defensive play.  Tonight the 49ers were the team that was more successful at their old school football ways and thats been there formula for success this whole year! The 49ers came into the game 1st overall in turnover ratio with a differential of +21. The 49ers have only given the ball away 10 times this whole year and if they want to make a serious run deep into the playoffs they need to continue to do that.

The difference between this years 49ers is that Alex Smith is only doing what he needs to do, and that is taking care of the football and only making throws when need be. They stress running the ball and chewing down the clock, while making plays on defense.  They are also ranked 3rd in total defense and 1st at stopping the run.  The saying that defense wins championships is widely overlooked in the new and flashy NFL, that is composed of 400 yard passing games and 42-41 point games.  The 49ers no doubt have the right mindset and with the Packers losing this week, means that they still have a chance at the number one seed in the NFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, will that happen? Well we will just have to wait and see!
